I am so excited! After teaching belly dance to women for 4 years now, I have a guy that wants to join my class. I really would love to teach him, but I have never taught men before. I have seen many male dancers perform and I have taken workshops by Jim Boz, but never seen how a man would be instructed. Are there any conciderations I need to be aware of? Or can I teach him the same basic structure of movements that I teach the women and let him discover his own style within that? I want to do this well and teach him right, so any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

My teacher Andalee made no exceptions or alterations for me. I was one of the girls so to speak. She told me that before I started, and I loved the classes. I was worried the women in class would have a problem with me being there, but they welcomed me and still keep in touch. If he really wants to learn, he'll adjust.
