Hope it's ok to post this in the topic section, but several people were asking about Pauls vest in the picture.
I decided to put the rest of the stock on the website instead of holding it back for the shows.
All the styles and sizes I have left in stock are up now.
Just not all sizes are avaialable in every color.
This is something I do plan to carry all the time, I just haven't re-ordered in a while.

you know what a pain it was to find vests 15 years ago? LOL
I want you to sell the vests, so I'll wait until you get the listing up.
Too bad we didn't have a part of the tribe card that had a 'recommended sites' thing..."Go here for vests...go here for pants..." -

Re: Vests
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 7:10 PMI know. I wasn't even featuring the vest in the original pic, but a bunch of guys wanted to know where to get one.
We've always tried to have Man stuff since, but it's hard even finding it to stock. -

Re: Vests
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 8:44 PMPaul likes to have Man stuff to wear sometimes. he gets tired of dressing up in the skirts.
We'll find more Man stuff.
I posted it in the listings now, btw ;-) -

Re: Vests
Tue, April 22, 2008 - 11:07 PMgeez, but now it's a conversation about 'manstuff'
The only person who *ever* got me in a skirt was Artemis Mourat at the first workshop I ever took. -

Re: Vests
Wed, April 23, 2008 - 7:50 PMClosest thing I ever got to a skirt was a kilt, but I did wear it in the 'proper' fashion! :)

Re: Vests
Fri, April 25, 2008 - 3:46 PMWe have a spanishy choreography that the girls wear skirts for and I converted it to cane for myself. when we teach it, though I sometimes wear a skirt just to help show the moves.
I forgot who said: "If a move is too feminine for you, learn it anyway. You will either convert it to soemthing you like, or teach it to a girl someday."
I refer to my veil as my man-veil as used in the sentence "This is my man-veil; I could kick your A55 with this veil!" But then, it is big enough to be a sheet for the average bed and I think all the girls I dance with have been hit by it at least once.

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Vests
Sat, April 26, 2008 - 5:15 AMI took a veil workshop, didn't really like it. But the Isis wings! I have visions of me getting the right color/style and having a blast with those! My troupe is planning on working on skirts one day, I plan to simply do the same moves but with that 'spanish flamenco' flair the men in that dance have.
Man-veil! LOL! I love that.... -

Re: Vests
Sat, April 26, 2008 - 11:24 PMI originally hated veil. I must admit, I have gotten to the point Zorba talks about where you just get lost in the music. It may be because I am an air sign and the veil lets you really be aware of the air! I took a silk veil workshop with THE Jim Boz and that REALLY opened my eyes to the joy of dancing with veil.

Re: Vests
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 6:14 AMYeah, I've read alot of stuff on Zorba's webpage, I love his perspective on things. Really I think the only reason I don't like the veil is because it seems to aggrevate an old shoulder injury with the flipping it one way or another. But the wings, they don't get flipped, they just stay there and get swirled around and look cool! -

Re: Vests
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 8:57 AMumm, if you have a shoulder injury, you may want to go ahead and discount wings too as they are relatively heavy and will most likely aggravate your shoulder as well. I have tendonitis in both wrists, wings and veil irritate them which is why i am guessing you'll have the same issue.

Re: Vests
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 11:40 AMUhhhh........ it's called a CAPE!!! Ask any Torreadore!
As a fighter, I spend a lot of time swinging a stick. Ergo, all of the veil (CAPE) work I do is very reminicsent of those movements. If I have it in both hands then there is a dab of six foot spear or polearm movement. Then there is the whole changing direction, changing hands and distraction.....
Really, it boils down to the same statement; "The human body only moves in so many directions, to force it is to cause damage (Combat). But to accentuate it is to dance..."
Syr Hassan
PS Strengthen the muscles around your shoulders gradually, without surgery, this is the only way to control the pain. -

Re: Vests
Tue, April 29, 2008 - 4:35 AMBeen doing that for years, its as good as its gonna get. My heritage as a martial artist...
I've already played with the wings and they don't bother me at all, the flipping of a veil is what gave me problems.
And I'm not talking about a cape, I'm talking about wings. Yes thats right, wings. But mine will be cool black or red ones and I will dance to Godsmack!!
But that does give me a few ideas for when the troupe does a spanish skirt dance....

Re: Vests
Sun, April 27, 2008 - 12:26 PM...and of course, remember that 'veil' is mostly an American thing.
If you're presenting Arabic dance or dances of the Middle East, especially as a guy, you would want to avoid doing veil.
